Macmillan Coffee Morning at Lamledge
If there is one thing that we love at Lamledge, that is cake! Lee, our catering teacher,
Working in education brings that new year, new start feeling to September. A new planner for the year ahead and a new group for our students makes us feel like we are embarking on a whole new chapter.
This week has seen new students and staff join us. It has also seen some students move up from Primary to Secondary. It is so emotional seeing some of our Primary students in their new “big school” uniform.
One of our Tutors has given this feedback about their group who have moved into secondary:
“I think our base group have settled back to school well, they seem to be transitioning smoothly into Secondary life. They have embraced the accelerated reader programme and have engaged well with new staff, learning and peers.”
Here is one of our students on his first day in Secondary
Our students in The Oaks have all had an exciting week back. They came back to a brand new trim trail which is being well used. When we asked what their favourite part of the week so far was, they said:
– I loved seeing my friends again.
– I love the Oaks, I like playing on the swing.
– I love accelerated reading. I’ve already finished my first book!
– I love the rabbits at the Oaks.
– I love visiting the Oaks to see the rabbits. It’s calming.
We have another exciting addition to our Lamledge Family. Rabbits!!! They have been very well received by our students. The therapeutic impact of having animals in school is so beneficial. Plus they are so cute!!
I would like to welcome everyone who is new to Lamledge including our recent additions to the staff team:
– Amy – SENCO
– Ian – Humanities
– John – Family Liaison
– Rosie – Design Technology
– Rachel – Teacher
– Nikki – Head of Maths
Rosie is a returning member of staff and this is what she had to say about her return:
“The first week has been very positive, as a returning member of staff I have been made to feel welcome by the team and students. Students have engaged well in lessons and I look forward to the year to come.”
We managed to get an action shot of our new Humanities Teacher, Ian whilst he was teaching the year 9 group about World War One. He is going to make an excellent addition to our staff team. This is what he said about his start to Lamledge:
“I have never worked in a place before where teamwork is so obvious. Everyone is so friendly and everyone cracks on and gets involved. Each day has gone by ever so fast but I am quickly getting to know everyone and most importantly the pupils are starting to see me as a Lamledge boy.”
