Careers Information For Employers
Lamledge School provides specialist education to students aged 5-19 with social, emotional and mental health needs, as well as other learning needs. We are within a commutable distance of Telford, Dudley, Stourbridge, Shrewsbury, Stone, Walsall, Wolverhampton, Shrewsbury, Birmingham and surrounding towns.
We are inclusive of all backgrounds and abilities with our key focus being learning through emotional intelligence and developing resilience within our students.
As individuals, our students can often find it difficult to identify their pathway to employment in life and quite often need support from not only our staff, but external influences from a range of businesses and careers. Due to the nature of our setting, our students can access a very broad and balanced curriculum similar to what is delivered in mainstream education, but we also have the flexibility, expertise and facilities for them to access a large range of vocational options within their curriculum. For example, our students access subjects such as outdoor and adventurous activities, sports and leisure, construction, hospitality and catering, hair and beauty, design technology, eSports, ICT/Computing and music.
We at Lamledge School would love to hear from any prospective local businesses who would be willing foster our students’ passion for work and to share their experience and knowledge in order to help build our students employability skills and allow them to have first-hand or digital experience of the workplace.
As a school, we are currently looking to improve this aspect of what we currently offer to our students. Our aim is to expose our students to more places of work and allow them to have relevant and significant work experience, which will not only help them to understand life in the wider world but will also give them an insight as to what career paths they may want to take upon leaving Secondary or Post 16 education.
This could either be through a visit to our school in Lamledge Lane, Shifnal or allowing our students to visit the workplace or via virtual meetings or experiences which combine and help the students to have meaningful encounters with those who are employed by your business.
On site, we have an outstanding vocational block facility that are students are able to use during their curriculum time, which we aspire to have local businesses associated with to enhance the pupil experience of these facilities. These facilities include; construction site, design technology suite, music studio, hair and beauty salon, industrial kitchen and computing suite.
