Ben has recently joined Lamledge (September 2023) with over 10 years’ experience in a variety of educational settings. He started his journey into teaching in a large post-16 setting, moving into adult prison education where he delivered music and music technology.
He then joined a large multi-sited special school in Birmingham, where he developed and headed an outstanding performing arts department and delivered teaching to a range of neurodiverse learners in ASC/SEMH settings, hospitals, secure units and eating disorder clinics. He also supported the school as a staff governor and completed a National Professional Qualification in Leading Teaching.
Ben is excited for his next journey at Lamledge and looks forward to utilising and embedding his knowledge of implementation and curriculum development to support positive change for all stakeholders. He has strong beliefs that there are many pathways to success, and that every child has the potential to excel in different areas.
Whether it’s academic achievement, artistic expression, athletic prowess, or leadership skills, each child can find their unique path to success.
When provided with a supportive environment that includes access to high-quality education, resources, encouragement, and positive role models, children are more likely to thrive and achieve their full potential.

Amy graduated with a degree in Theatre Design and began her teaching career as an Art and Design teacher. Having taught in mainstream schools during the first part of her career, Amy transitioned into special education, continually adding to her toolkit by immersing herself in therapeutic interventions while working with young people. This expansion included mental health and well-being interventions, with a focus on individuals with SEND needs and bespoke strategies for those with SEMH needs.
Amy’s career in education spans over 25 years, during which she has worked in a variety of settings, including primary and secondary schools, the private sector, special education settings, and Post-16 environments. She also ran her own business, working as a private practitioner and consultant to school leaders on how best to support young people with additional needs.
Throughout her career, Amy has developed a vast skill set in working with young people with SEND and SEMH needs, and she is excited to bring this expertise to Lamledge School. Mental health and well-being are central to everything Amy does, and she believes strongly that embracing creativity is one of life’s great healers.
Amy is looking forward to working with the young people, their families, and carers at Lamledge, sharing her knowledge and skills to help the students thrive.
