Home News & Events UNICEF Rights Respecting School – We are silver accredited!
Dear Parents and Carers,
As part of our school’s personal development improvement plan, our aim this year was to progress from our UNICEF Rights Respecting School Bronze Award from earlier in the academic year, and look to achieve the Silver Award.
I am delighted to inform you that Lamledge has achieved the Silver Award for the UNICEF Rights Respecting School. This prestigious recognition is a testament to the dedication and commitment of our pupils and staff towards understanding and upholding the rights of every child within our school community. This initiative has been lead and developed by our PSHE lead, Stephanie Wilde, who has worked tirelessly to incorporate this initiative into Citizenship lessons, as well as having ‘Articles of the Week’ shared during tutor time each week.
At Lamledge, we place a strong emphasis on ensuring that our pupils are well-informed about their rights and demonstrate respect for the rights of others. Through our curriculum and school activities, we strive to embed a culture where the rights of every individual are valued and upheld.
Our school ethos, behaviours, and attitudes are underpinned by the principles of the Rights Respecting School initiative. By integrating these rights into our daily practices, we create a nurturing environment where students feel respected, valued, and safe. The support provided by our staff plays a pivotal role in fostering a sense of security and belonging among our students.
One of the key outcomes of our Rights Respecting School approach is the empowerment of students to have a voice in school matters. We actively encourage pupil participation and engagement, giving our students opportunities to express their views and contribute to decision-making processes. Additionally, our school community is actively involved in various charitable and community activities, instilling a sense of social responsibility and empathy in our students.
As we celebrate this significant achievement, I would like to extend my gratitude to all parents/guardians for your continued support and collaboration in promoting a rights-respecting culture at Lamledge. Together, we can nurture compassionate and responsible global citizens who advocate for the rights of all children.
Should you have any questions or require further information, please do not hesitate to contact the school office.
Thank you once again for your unwavering support.
Yours sincerely,
Matt Stinson
