Home News & Events Our year 11s explore career opportunities
This week has been a positive and progressive one for some of our Year 11 students as they explored post-16 options, fostered career aspirations, and engaged in community work through invaluable work experience and service opportunities.
A particular highlight was a trip to Telford College, where one of our students received a fantastic overview of the construction course. The visit included an informative tour of the college facilities, with various workshops simulating real-life construction environments. The student was particularly enthusiastic about the hands-on activities offered by the construction course, which showcase the practical skills they could develop.
Following this visit, the student participated in a work experience trial at Springwood, part of ShireLiving through the Wrekin Housing Group. They were able to apply their theoretical knowledge in a vibrant residential setting, supporting building assistants on site by installing notice boards in the reception area and medicine cabinets in the residents’ bathrooms.
Additionally, one student demonstrated exceptional community spirit by baking gingerbread and serving it to the residents of Springwood at lunchtime. This thoughtful gesture not only brought cheer to the residents but also fostered a sense of connection between our students, the school, and the wider community.
Overall, these experiences have promoted personal growth, skill development, and a deeper understanding of community service among our students. We look forward to seeing this continue in the future!
