For our day today, our primary and some KS3 students had a visit to Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service at Telford, where they had a hands on, interactive experience of the fire station. They were shown around a fire engine, given an insight into all of the equipment on the fire engine, as well as having the opportunity to sit in the driver’s seat and try on the uniform! They also then had the chance to use the hose to try and knock a cone off a container.
Then this afternoon, PC Eleanor Heales from West Mercia Police came in to speak to our students about her role as a police officer, as well as pass on some valuable laws which might be useful for our students to know. Our students particularly enjoyed the part of the talk where they were able to sit in the police car and put on the sirens, be ‘arrested’ and try on some of the police uniform.
Thank you to the team at Telford Fire Station and PC Heales for your time with our students today, it is safe to say that our students now know they are in safe hands and know what they need to do if they want to become a firefighter or police officer in the future.
