Local Work Experience Opportunities

We had a really positive afternoon out in Shifnal this week, meeting with local businesses to explore work experience opportunities for our students.

It was fantastic to have such an encouraging response from the community. We are especially grateful to Rachel at RTFG – The Flower Girl, Kelly at St Andrew’s Church Shifnal, and Gordon at Shifnal Cycles, who have all kindly offered to support our students with placements from September.

A different approach to work experience

At Lamledge School, our work experience offer is designed to be flexible, supportive, and meaningful. Rather than a traditional two week block, we are building a model that works better for our students and for local employers.

We are looking for placements that can offer:

• Around 2 to 3 hours per week
• Ongoing opportunities from September onwards
• A supportive environment where students can build confidence and practical skills

All students will be supervised and supported by school staff, so businesses will not be expected to manage placements alone.

Areas of interest

Our students have a range of interests, and we are particularly keen to develop opportunities in:

• Construction and trades
• Hair and beauty
• Bike and car maintenance
• Retail
• Cafes, restaurants, and hospitality

However, we are always open to exploring other opportunities where students can gain real world experience.
